I’m a 32 year old girl (not yet ready to think of myself as a woman) who’s passions are horses, yoga, dogs and learning.
I ran a successful riding school for 14 years from the age of 18 and sold this in the spring of 2016.
If you had asked me what my identity was a few years ago I would have said a riding instructor and owner of a riding school. That’s all I knew and I was proud of it.
Throughout the time running the business I also struggled with an illness called Myalgic Encephalopathy or M.E. but this never stopped me doing what I loved and with the support of loved ones and friends I built the business into a very popular riding stables.
So why sell? In the summer of 2015 I became incredibly ill again, this time it felt different, I was getting older and although I’d had this illness since I was 19 this time my view on life changed and this episode made me reassess what life was all about. I’d made the business a huge success but now was the time for my family and myself to take priority.
Whilst I was ill I discovered yoga, my practice became a daily discipline and through this I found I was able to come to terms with my illness for the first time and start to gain back some sort of control over my life. The self confidence that yoga gave me gave me the strength to move forward in a new direction that is mainly focused now around this beautiful practice.
My identity now is a yogini (dedicated yoga practitioner and teacher), an animal lover, an introvert and a girl living with an illness that sometimes gets in the way.
I’m a qualified yoga teacher and a BHS II and I use both passions to help improve my own life and that of others around me. Through connecting the two I’ve been able to heal myself and now I want to share what I’ve learnt with others around me.
I’m now dedicated to helping people that suffer from m.e and victims of bullying through the power of yoga. These are two major things that I feel yoga has helped me come to terms with and move on and I’ll love to share this gift.
Due to my love for horses and knowledge within riding I’m also dedicated in passing on the message of loving kindness towards our animal friends. I believe through the practice of yoga we can become more connected with our animals and therefore give them a happier life. Through yoga your understanding of your body increases so your position whilst riding as well as your awareness naturally evolves.
